The office I work for does not recognize this holiday.  Racists?  I don’t think so, but it’s never come up in conversation so who knows.  I’ll observe it here.

It’s snowing and from the 21st floor it looks blustery and windy.  My window (at the new job) faces a deep glass and concrete canyon between Grand Central Station, the Chrysler Building and a few others.  This tightly packed group of buildings of various heights trap breezes in little swirling cycles.  Therefore at times the snow won’t move outside my window.  It floats precariously on the upward gusts of the trapped wind, sometimes fluttering from one window to the next as if checking out what’s going on inside.  We’ve had accumulation in the jungle outside our kitchen windows and watch sparrows duck in and out of the few inches on the bird feeder.

I’m excited about tomorrow.  Where will you watch the inauguration?
